Larry Spends a Day with the Blue Angels and Assistant Commandant

What seemed to be an underrated stash job for the NAS photo studio, soon evolved into an unforgettable opportunity envied by many fellow Marines, and civilians alike. As the most experienced photographer at hand, Larry was granted the opportunity to photograph General Amos' big ride in the #4 Blue Angel jet. It was a show he will never forget as he witnessed and photographed first hand one of the most riveting air shows created.

It was only a few days later that he was asked to take a ride in the Blue Angel's C-130, Fat Albert. Even though the ride was cut short due to a malfunctioning turn indicator, Larry got to experience weightlessness after a 45 degree takeoff that took the massive aircraft from 0-3500 ft in 3 seconds. While trying to do a 60 degree bank a few hundred feet off the ground the pilots leveled the aircraft out and had to land. What started out to be 'once in a lifetime experience' Larry will luckily be given the chance to ride again in just a few weeks.
