On the road again...

For many, the thought of moving every few years is terrifying, but for Larry and the Marine Corps, we apparently can't move enough! After 1 year and 8 months of marriage, we are packing up and heading out once again to find our 4th home, this time in Jacksonville, NC. Larry received his orders 7 days ago, and the movers are set to arrive tomorrow. A bittersweet move, we will certainly miss our wonderful friends in TX, but look forward to all that is to come in NC!:)

Here are some recent pics from our trip to Big Bend National Park and Sea World San Antonio.

A time of new beginnings...

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.
~ Eleanor Roosevelt

As Larry and I wish you all a very Happy New Year for 2011, we encourage each of you to embrace a new adventure, find your passion, achieve a goal, and set your sights outside of your everyday routine. For our one year anniversary in July, I created a book of our first year of marriage, filling each page with pictures of all the fun and exciting things we had done together. With the turn of the new year, I began to wonder what our second book would entail. Where else will we go, what fun places will we see, and who will we meet along the way? If you were to create your own book, what would it show?

Although Larry and I have been given many opportunities to travel and live in different areas of the country, I find that some of our happiest moments were the simple days we spent throwing a ball with Kody on the beach or a spontaneous drive through this massive state of Texas. We've learned to embrace change and all of the unplanned adventures along the way, finding humor in the chaos and trust in the unknown.

New Years Resolution...

I'm going to be running, running, and running. This is the year that I will conquer my biggest fitness flaw and become a runner! My plan is to complete a 5k this spring, a half marathon in the fall, and possibly even a full marathon by the new year of 2012. With the help of my wonderful husband and inspiring friends, I have complete confidence that I will tackle this resolution with ease:).

Wishing you a year of happiness, good fortune, and great karma! Happy New Year everyone!

Just hanging out...

Our home:)

Kody on a hot October day...

The autumn leaves and cool mornings do not exist here in Corpus, however we are LOVING our "livable" summer weather. With the scorching months of July, August, and September behind us, Larry and I are finally able to enjoy the outdoors.

There isn't a ton of news to share. Larry is on his third flight of primary while I have been busy with my classes and babysitting. I'll be taking the GRE's for grad school Nov. 1 to apply for the SLP grad program at ECU. There aren't but a handful of online accredited grad programs for this field, so keep your fingers crossed that all g oes well!!

We were honored to host our friends Scott and Lisa Frederick's "baby shower" last weekend. We had a ton of amazing appetizers, corn hole, and other fun games!

With Halloween just around the corner, we of course continued the timeless tradition of pumpkin carving. It was a fun an d relaxing "fall" day on the w ater with great friends and yummy Halloween inspired treats:)

Oh, and one more thing! My brother and his wife Beth have announced that they are pregnant again!! We are super excited and can't wait to hear if it will be a new niece or nephew!!

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!

Labor Day in San Antonio

Larry and I spent Labor Day in San Antonio...a fun little getaway before his next step in flight training and my next semester of school.

We had dinner at the Chart House, a revolving restaurant sitting 750ft high inside the Tower of the Americas.

Travels

The past couple of weeks have been exciting, to say the least! Larry and I had so much fun on our trip! The Grand Canyon was incredible!! We decided to go for it and take the helicopter tour over the south end; it was definitely a breath taking experience. The only Americans on board, we enjoyed the sites with a couple of guys from New Zealand and Spain.

After our helicopter tour, we returned our rental car and joined up with Larry's parents who were traveling from Idaho (where they had been visiting an old friend), and the four of us headed to Colorado. The town of Crested Butte was beautiful!! However, it was a bit cooler than what Larry and I have become accustomed to with temperatures ranging between 40 and 73 degrees!

The day before the wedding my father-in-law Mike, Larry, Larry's cousin Jordan, and myself decided to go on a hike. At 10,000 ft, we were all moving a bit slower than usual, but enjoying the sites nonetheless.

Jordan...the biologist....playing with an
intestinal worm he found in a pile of horse droppings...gross.

John and Lara's wedding was held on her parent's ranch amongst some of the most beautiful scenery around.

Our next stop was Danville, VA where we spent a few days visiting my family and friends. I hate that I didn't get more pictures of our stop there.

We then drove up to Alexandria to hang out with Larry's friends and family for an evening.

Our trip ended with a visit to see Larry's grandparents in DC. Mrs. Greene gave us this beautiful quilt she had been working on for the past year! We loved it! :)
